DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION

Mission Statement: Our goal is to participate in educating of all attendees of the

Greater Refuge Temple and community in acquiring spiritual

success and the five parts of educational success:

1) continual learning, 2) inner motivation, 3) persistence, 4) questioning skills,

and 5) test taking skills, while demonstrating the power of God.

The Education Department is comprised of three committees: The Triple 'E' - Extra Effort for Education; Vacation Bible School , and the Scholarship Committee.

The Triple 'E' Committee is organized in an effort to raise funds to support the Educational Activities, including: Vacation Bible School and Adult Seminar Summer Program, Women’s History Month, Black American History Month, Chastity Training; Career Day; Service Projects; Grad’s Ceremony, Academic Achievement Awards, Field Trips, and Youth Goodie Bags.

The Vacation Bible School and Adult Seminar Summer Program operates once a year for one week in July. Classes are scheduled from 6:30 to 8:30pm . We offer: Arts & Crafts, Music and most importantly, Bible Class. Instructors are astute Bible Scholars who have given themselves to learning.

The Scholarship Committee functions as a major source of support and fund raising for the Bishop Gentle Groover Scholarship for graduating seniors to an academic institution, vocational school or trade school. The $1,000.00 scholarship is awarded to the winning applicant. The 2008 recipient was Terri Jenetta Sumpter. The scholarship is named after our Senior Pastor, Bishop Gentle L. Groover Sr. If you or your organization would like to be a sponsor or contribute to the scholarship award, please send donations to:
